Herbs to Get Rid of Nausea While Pregnant

Two of the symptoms commonly experienced during the early part of pregnancy is nausea or morning sickness. Expectant moms usually experience nausea first thing while after they wake up. Nonetheless, there are other times that nausea may be present even during at night. Usually, this happens during the first trimester just around six weeks until 13 weeks after conception. This seems to be a short amount of time for us but for pregnant women, these weeks would feel like months of suffering since they’ve spent most of their time inside the bathroom.

Doctors may not provide any medical intervention to nausea and vomiting since the first trimester is also the time of rapid cell division and growth of the embryo. Any chemical substance injected or consumed by the pregnant mother may have an effect to her baby. Hence, here are some herbal or natural remedies you can use when you experience nausea:

  • Ginger – one powerful capability of ginger is to eliminate distress and discomfort in the digestive system. With regular consumption of ginger root, there is a decreased frequency of nausea.
  • Peppermint – there are herbal teas formulated with peppermint, which can be consumed in the evening in order to calm the digestive system and the nerves. This may not directly help in relieving nausea but it can decrease anxiety just before going to sleep.
  • Anise – the seeds have detoxifying and calming effects. This herb is also known for relieving digestive discomforts like heartburn. Consume the Anise tea by crushing the seeds and letting it steep in hot water. Various cultures use this herb in relieving morning sickness.
  • Sepia – this is an herb used in homeopathic medicine. This helps decrease any feeling of irritability, depression, and lethargy. This is also efficient in balancing cravings for salty foods.
  • Fennel – different cultures have known the beneficial effects of this herb in digestive problems. This herb helps relieve any eating discomforts especially from heartburn. Consumer fennel tea during the day to help relieve morning sickness.
  • Licorice – according to research, this herb is great for treating mild nausea and calming the digestive tract. You can also try the candy or drops of licorice.
  • Lemons – another wonder cure for nausea is lemons. This will help alleviate discomforts associated with digestive problems as well.

Tips for Relieving Nausea While Pregnant

Aside from herbs, there are some things that might help relieve the feeling of nausea. One of the known tips is to eat salted crackers upon waking up to help balance digestive acids in the stomach. Moreover, before trying any herbal medication, it is important to check it with your physician especially if you are taking some supplements or medications. Drugs and other allergic reactions may surface with its response to the drug. Nausea may vary from one person to another but always remember to keep safe by consuming remedies offering the least side effect especially during pregnancy.
