Cybersecurity certification for IACS
IEC 62443 Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) cybersecurity standards conformance certification (ISASecure®)

Industrial Wireless Technologies certification
IEC 62734 (ISA100 Wireless®) conformance and interoperability certification

What is Conformity Assessment?

Conformity assessment refers to any activity designed to confirm that a product or service meets requirements contained in a specification (typically a standard). A specification is the technical description of the characteristics that a product or service must meet to be ‘compliant’ and thus listed as ‘certified’.

Technology is becoming complex, and both end-users and suppliers are depending increasingly on products whose design and construction are difficult to understand. CA (conformity assessment) provides the reassurance they need.

Conformity Assessment Programs at ISA

ISA has been developing international standards for industrial automation and control systems (IACS) industry for over 65 years.  A number of years ago, ISA recognized that end-users derive more value from standards that have an associated CA program and established a subsidiary corporation designed to stand up and operate CA operations.

ISA currently runs two CA programs both of which are based on third-party conformity assessment  or certification. Together, these programs establish that a product is reliable and meets expectations in terms of performance, security, safety and, other criteria.

The CA programs are operated by member-based consortia.  The ISA Security Compliance Institute manages the ISASecure® cybersecurity certification program which certifies to ISA/IEC 62443 standards.  The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute manages the ISA100 Wireless Compliant® program which certifies wireless sensors and infrastructure devices to the ISA100.11a-2011 (IEC 62734) standard.

Global Recognition

International Standards and CA help reduce trade barriers caused by different certification criteria in different countries. The ISA CA Systems help remove significant delays and expense due to testing and approval in multiple jurisdictions. This allows suppliers to reduce costs and enter markets faster with its products.

Confidence

Through the ISA CA programs, end-users can be confident that IACS products are secure, safe to use, and perform to expectations. It also provides assurances of authenticity and performance for end-users in any global market.
