The International Society of Automation (ISA) announced today that Automation Solutions, Inc (AutoSol), an authority in SCADA and measurement communications, is an ISA Promotional Partner.
AutoSol, based in Houston, Texas, has been providing global software solutions to address complex communications challenges in SCADA and measurement applications since 1987. Focused on reliable and secure data collection and data delivery, AutoSol software and hardware products increase data performance.
Traditionally focused on solutions for data acquisition and data delivery, AutoSol has become a leader in multi-protocol communication in the oil and gas sector. Its software products have helped to extend the useful life of SCADA and measurement systems while optimizing communication in legacy field devices.
In 2014, AutoSol launched CryptoMod, which provides an auditable, encrypted path of communication to secure front-end devices for critical field instruments—regardless of their protocol or communication method. This patented technology is developed specifically for industrial application and to be integrated into SCADA systems while being transparent to legacy software.
Through the partnership, AutoSol and ISA will work together to mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and explore new ways to protect legacy field instruments from targeted cyberattacks. AutoSol will be releasing a series of white papers and case studies—developed by its Cyber Team—that focus on the security challenges of modern communication, pinpointing the common weaknesses of SCADA and measurement systems, and outlining best practices for protecting these important technologies.
In addition, through webinars, white papers and in-person presentations and discussions, AutoSol plans to educate ISA members, customers and partners on encryption-based cybersecurity for field instruments.
“AutoSol has a long history of solving highly complex communication challenges,” says Douglas Osburn, the company’s founder. “We plan to build on this tradition through our partnership with ISA, helping greater numbers of automation professionals throughout the world attain the knowledge and solutions needed to prevent cyberattacks on mission-critical instruments.”
Jennifer Infantino Halsey, ISA’s Director of Marketing & Communications, says marketplace interest in the security of industrial data delivery and collection is increasing given the growing threats of cyberattack.
“As the leader in industrial automation and control system security standards and training, ISA is acutely aware of the need to protect industrial data and SCADA communication and provide remote field device security and encryption. We expect our members and stakeholders will benefit from learning about the resources that AutoSol offers in these important areas.”
